A 16-year-old teenager, a school dropout and an alcoholic killed his own grandmother aged around 65, for money in Moinabad on the city outskirts on Monday night
Hyderabad: A 16-year-old teenager, a school dropout and an alcoholic killed his own grandmother aged around 65, for money in Moinabad on the city outskirts on Monday night.
Janaiah, Inspector of Police, Moinabad while interacting with the media said, "The victim was identified as Kavali Venkatamma and she had one son and three daughters, but her son died in an accident 10 years ago and she was residing with her daughter-in-law and grandchildren".
"The juvenile who killed her grandmother was the second grandson of Venkatamma and he was addicted to bad vices since few years. The victim would very frequently give him money, but when she realised that he was being addicted to bad habits, she stopped giving him money.
However on Monday she had drawn her Aasara pension and the accused juvenile knew about it, so he demanded money from her to which she declined," stated the Inspector. He further added, "Unable to bear the rejection, the accused juvenile took a rope and strangulated his grandmother leading to her immediate death. After killing her, he went absconding. A case has been registered under section 302 of IPC against the juvenile and special teams have been formed to nab him."
