Chennai: The customs officials have seized 48 gold bars weighing 5.6 kg worth of Rs 2.24 crore which are hidden in the toilet of a plane at Chennai airport. Going into details, over receiving the information that huge gold is being smuggled from Dubai, the officials have conducted checks at the airport.

In this context, the officials inspected the Air India flight which has landed at Chennai airport from Dubai. During the raids, four black packets were found in the rear toilet of the aircraft. When the packets were opened, the customs officials found 48 gold bars weighing 5.6 kg valued Rs 2.24 crore. The officials seized the gold bars under the provisions of Customs Act 1962.
