New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that it would stage a protest today outside the Election Commission of India seeking action against Uttar Pradesh chief Minister and BJP leader, Yogi Adityanath for his provocative comments during electioneering on Sunday. Yogi Adityanath had said on Sunday at an election rally that the Shaheen Bagh protests were actually directed against the scrapping of Article 370, Abolition of Triple Talaq and the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister is also accused Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal of backing Shaheen Bagh protests. The UP chief minister took a dig at Kejriwal saying that he was busy feeding biryani to the protesters at Shaheen Bagh.

Taking a serious view of Yogi Adityanath's remarks, the AAP is seeking action against him on the grounds of promoting social disharmony. AAP leaders have demanded a ban on Yogi Adityanath's electioneering.

Hitting back at the UP chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal at an election rally asked him to mind affairs in his own state first. Kejriwal reminded Yogi Adityanath of the state of schools in UP. As regards hospitals, The Gorakhpur tragedy was an example of Yogi's administration, the AAP chief remarked.

The AAP has tried to keep the focus on development and local issues, while BJP leaders have been harping on Shaheen Bagh protests, Article 370 and national security.

As electioneering heats up for the state assembly elections to be held on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to address his first rally in Karkardooma area in Delhi today.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has transferred the deputy commissioner of police of south-east Delhi, Chinmoy Biswal. The Shaheen Bagh area came under Biswal's jurisdiction and the top cop is reported to have been shifted due to his mishandling of affairs over the past few days. Kumar Gyanesh will take charge in his place.
