Delhi Violence: BSF Steps In To Help Riot-Affected Jawan's Family

New Delhi: Senior Border Security Force (BSF) officials are scheduled to visit on Saturday, the house of Mohammed Anees, a BSF jawan whose house in Khajuri Khas area was looted completely in violence which erupted in North East areas of the national capital. BSF officials will assess the damage to the house of the jawan and ensure that his family gets government assistance.
It was widely reported that the house of the BSF jawan had been vandalised and looted in the violence which Delhi witnessed earlier in the week. The jawan's family members told media outlets that they had lost everything including money and gold they had saved for the marriage of their girl set to take place shortly.
Large areas of North East Delhi were rocked by violence earlier in the week. The death toll in north-east Delhi violence rose to 42 while the number of injured climbed to over 200. Doctors pointed out that most of the deaths and injuries were related to gunshots.
Police officials told the media that the riot-hit localities returned to normalcy. People started going back to work and resumed normal lives. Police formed 400 peace committees for the restoration of peace and normalcy on the ground.
The Delhi government has set up shelters for those who have been affected by the riots. These 'reinbaseras' are also open to those who do not feel secure for now and are equipped with all the basic amenities. The Kejriwal-led government has also opened up community centres for the riot-impacted.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday announced a relief of Rs. 25,000 beginning from Saturday, to all those whose homes were destroyed in the violent incidents earlier this week.
