The BJP has now received support from the independent candidates in the assembly polls.

The results in the states of Haryana and Maharashtra assembly elections are out, but suspense still continues as to which party will form the government formation in both states.

In Maharashtra, the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance retained power in Maharashtra, though with a reduced majority. Now, the Shiv the Sena is also expected to drive a hard bargain with the BJP, which was expecting an emphatic victory.

In Maharashtra, where 288 seats are at stake, the BJP won 105 seats. Its ally Shiv Sena won 56 seats, taking their combined lead tally to 161 seats. From the Opposition camp, the Congress won 44 seats while its alliance partner Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) ended up with 54 seats.

In Haryana, the BJP emerged as the single largest party to have won maximum seats (40 in total), and the onus lies on opposition JJP chief Dushyant Chautala and independents to form the government.

In Haryana, the ruling BJP emerged as the single largest party by winning 40 seats but couldn't hit the halfway mark - they fell short by 5 seats. Congress, on the other hand, won 31 seats. The Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) was victorious in 10 constituencies, along with 7 Independents. Now, the independents have extended their support to BJP in forming a government.
