This comes on a day when Union minister Rajnath Singh filed his nomination papers for the Lucknow Lok Sabha seat.

Shatrughan Sinha's wife Poonam Sinha joined the Samajwadi Party (SP) in company of Dimple Yadav on Tuesday. This is just days after Shatrughan Sinha joined the Congress.

"Poonam Sinha has joined the Samajwadi Party in presence of SP leader Dimple Yadav in Lucknow," said the party in a tweet. The official Twitter handle of the party also showcased a photograph displaying Poonam Sinha joining the party in the company of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav, an MP from Kannauj.

Poonam might fight from Lucknow parliamentary constituency as SP candidate with BSP's support against senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh, according to reports.

When questioned about her candidature from Lucknow, Poonam Sinha dodged straightforward replies and said, "Will tell you tomorrow." On being questioned whether she would be fighting alongside Singh, she said, "Koi baat nahi, acchi tarah se ladenge (It does not matter. I will fight strongly)."

Poonam Sinha is expected to file nomination on April 18. So far, the Congress has, not fielded a candidate from Lucknow. This may surface the way for a one-to-one face-off between Rajnath Singh and Poonam Sinha.

Moreover, this comes on a day when Union minister Rajnath Singh filed his nomination papers for the Lucknow Lok Sabha seat. By gathering 55.7% of the total 10, 06,483 votes polled, Singh had won the Lucknow seat in 2014. He had won in all the five assembly segments of the constituency.

Nominations close in two days and voting will take place on May 6 for Lucknow.
