National Statistics Day was celebrated at PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Science in the city on Wednesday under the aegis of Department of Statistics.

National Statistics Day was celebrated at PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Science in the city on Wednesday under the aegis of Department of Statistics. The Statistics Day is being observed on June 29 every year since 2007, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Prof Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, architect of the Second Five Year Plan.

Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare is the theme of the tenth Statistics Day. B Jayaprakash, assistant professor of Statistics, Siddhartha PG Centre, who attended the programme as a chief guest, delivered a guest lecture on significance of statistics in economic development of the nation.

Gullapalli Chakravarthi, Head of Department of Statistics, spoke on application of statistical software in Big Data Analysis. College principal MVN Padma Rao presided. Statistics lecturers E Muralikrishna, A Balaji, U Udayshankar and others were present. Students of BA and BSc Statistics attended the programme.
