The Minister reportedly wanted the retired employees to give suggestion for better management of social welfare hostels and educational institutions, including outsource the various services in social welfare hostels in the four hour-long work shop. The workshop also focused on how to utilise the services of the retired employees in social welfare hostels and educational institutions.
Some of the participants suggested that some of the services in social welfare hostels should be privatised because of staff shortage and reasons. Maintenance of catering services, cleanness, drainage and sewerage services, security and other services were considered in the discussions. In fact these services are being obtained by the hostel welfare officer.
The government is contemplating to permit social welfare department to outsource certain facility management services in social welfare department. This process is on for some months and the issue was discussed in the present workshop. The Minister received the opinions of retired principals and superintendents on the issue, sources said.
There was discussion on the utilisation of retired employees’ services in social welfare hostels and educational institutions due to there were many posts are lying vacant. The Minister has an opinion that it is better to take services of retired employees of same department to utilise their experience effective management of the institutions, a Zonal officer said.
