The Vijayawada Ladies Circle hosted a fundraising event titled ‘Tambola Dhamaka’ at a private hotel in the city on Friday. As part of this, the organisation created innovative ways to raise money for service programmes. The VLC successfully adopted four municipal schools in and around the city and look after their needs.

The Tambola Dhamaka was part of their national project ‘Educate to Enlighten’ under which the ‘Tablers’ and the ‘Circlers’ as they are called, take up building infrastructure facilities in schools, scholarship schemes, nutrition and health and other programmes. With the event, the members have focused to build toilets in the adopted schools.

The members of VLC gather once in a year for a charity entertainment programme and donate the collected amount for certain causes. The organisation was established in the year 1995 and the charity programmes were being done from then. The group is restricted to 25 active members with an age limit of 40years and less. The Ladies’ Circle members are wives of the members of Vijayawada Round Table—68 who work to promote the motto of ‘Friendship and Service’.

“The funds raised through this project will go to our community service programmes, which majorly spent on education related services. We also get sponsors who often donate some amount or take part in the service activities,” said Vamsi Priya, chairperson of the Ladies’ Circle.
