Vijayawada: A cycle rally that started in Hyderabad, to sensitise people on student-suicides on Wednesday, will reach Amaravati on December 17. The event has been organised by the Andhra Pradesh Psychologists Federation.

The rally will reach Amaravati with pit stops at Hayathnagar, Choutuppal, Nakirekal, Kodada, Jaggaiahpet, Vijayawada and Guntur, with the participants organising meetings at the checkpoints to educate people on the issue.

The parents of students studying in corporate junior colleges are made aware of the factors leading to student-suicide. The rally will begin from Sathavahana College to SRR College in Vijayawada. The organisers are to conduct a meeting to boost self-confidence on December 16.

“The aim of conducting the cycle rally is to break the silence on the issue. We hope that this discussion would aid to prevent suicides,” the organisers said.

AP Psychologists Federation president B Umamaheswara Rao, its executive president Pratyusha Subba Rao, RTI Activist and general secretary of Active Bicyclers Association V Satyanarayana, released posters of the event here on Thursday.
