Rajamahendravaram: The APSRTC is making elaborate arrangements to meet the rush during the three-day Sankranthi festival.

The officials of the corporation are expecting a rush from January 10 as the government declared holidays to the schools from that day. From January 15, rush is expected in services relating to return journeys.

According to RTC regional manager C Ravi Kumar, plans are afoot to operate as many as 600 special services to Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Viskhapatnam etc during this festive season, in addition to the regular services. Seventy-five per cent of online reservations for bus services were over. While 170 bus services were special, 200 services were regular coming to the district from Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, about 70 special buses would be operated from January 15 for return journey to Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam etc. At present, every day RTC is operating 50 buses to Hyderabad, 70 buses to Visakhapatnam and 60 buses to Vijayawada. Additional charges would be applicable for special services only.

Necessary facilities were being provided in all RTC bus stations in the district for the passengers. All the depot managers in the district were directed to take steps to avoid any inconvenience to the passengers. He appealed to the passengers to travel in RTC buses for a safe journey.
