Complete Veligonda on a war-footing: Lakshmi Narayana

Yerragondapalem: Retired additional DGP VV Lakshmi Narayana demanded that the government complete the Veligonda project ASAP.

He was touring Prakasam district for the fourth day on Wednesday and visited Markapuram, Veligonda project, Garapenta and Pullalacheruvu villages.

Lakshmi Narayana visited the Chennakesava Swamy temple in Markapuram in the morning and offered prayers. He then travelled to Veligonda project site and inspected the works done and pending now.

He interacted with the construction company officials and learned about the status of the project. He also met the farmers from the local area and interacted with them.He said that the works of the second tunnel were stopped for the last two years while the works of first tunnel were halted from the last five months.

He said that the government should pay the dues to the old contractors and see the works of the project start immediately. He said that if the government was able to provide sufficient water, the farmers in the western Prakasam were no less to others and can produce on par with others in remaining areas.

He demanded that the government complete the project immediately. He reiterated that in the democratic system, people were the rulers and the officials and the government were their servants and should do what the public demands.
