Elaborate arrangements are being made for the smooth conduct of polls for the 150-year-old Kakinada Bar Association.
Kakinada: Elaborate arrangements are being made for the smooth conduct of polls for the 150-year-old Kakinada Bar Association.
The polling is scheduled to be held on June 15.
Established in the year 1872, the Bar witnessed polls for 24 times and the first elections were conducted in the year 1963.
In total, there are 1,505 members in the Kakinada Bar Association. Out of them, 1,133 are eligible to exercise their franchise for the election of new office bearers for a period of one year.
As far as contestants for various posts are concerned, two senior advocates, Nakka Venkata Narasimha Rao and Kotikalapudi Satya Srinivas are in the race for president’s post.
For the key secretary post, MPS Balasubrahmanyam and KS Singh are in the contest. For vice-president post, Bhavanarayana and Lakshmi Naidu are in the contest.
The elections for joint secretary, treasurer and other posts will also be conducted.
All the contenders are actively canvassing with their supporters. The results will be announced on the same day of elections.
