Carbide-free mangoes are healthy: DRO

Anantapuramu: District Revenue Officer M Sudarshan Reddy told the public to buy only carbide-free mangoes as they are good for health. He inaugurated a ripening chamber of mangoes with carbide-free ethylene gas here at the agricultural market yard in Anantapuramu town on Saturday. Later, addressing the meeting, the DRO said the Indian government has given permission to ripen fruits with ethrel as an alternate to carbide. The fruits ripened through this process are healthy, he added. Agricultural Market Committee president Narayana Reddy said farmers are facing problems to sell their products due to lack of proper place in the market yard. He assured of collecting land and helping the farmers. Earlier, he had inaugurated a mobile van for selling mangoes. Marketing AD Srikanth Reddy, Bhumiputra Fruits member VK Pradip Kumar Reddy, APMIP PD Pulla Reddy, Horticulture officers Siva Satyanarayana, Ramana, Market Yard secretary Rammohan Reddy, senior supervisor Virupakshappa and others spoke on the occasion. Several farmers, consumers, traders and others took part in the programme.
