Bhadrachalam: The police on Wednesday handed over six bodies of Maoists killed in the encounter in the border area of Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on Tuesday to their relatives. Three dead bodies are still with the police.

In the morning, there was a high drama when as human rights activists Varavara Rao, Telugu Desam MLA Sitakka from Mulugu in Warangal district and some others converged at the government hospital at Bhadrachalam and raised slogans against the police, accusing them of killing the Maoists in a fake encounter.

They demanded that the police hand over the bodies to the relatives after conducting post mortem there. The Telugu Desam legislator alleged that some of her relatives were among the slain ultras. After paying respects to the dead in the hospital, Varavara Rao alleged that innocent people died after consuming poisoned food given by the police and there was no real encounter.

He said as the father of Marri Ravi alias Sudhakar could not find his son's body, the Maoist leader might still be in police custody and he should be produced before the Magistrate immediately.A The police took away the bodies to Kunta Government hospital by a helicopter and brought them back to Bhadrachalam after post-mortem.
