The TDP on Wednesday charged the Congress with failing to protect the interests of the Seemandhra region. Its leaders accused the Congress of treating the creation of Telangana as an internal matter of the party. The TDP MPs, who have been continuously stalling the proceedings in both Houses of Parliament, said they would continue with their protests in Parliament even on Thursday.

Y S Chowdary, C M Ramesh, M Venugopal Reddy and K Narayan Rao said that the Antony Committee set up by Congress President Sonia Gandhi is an internal arrangement of the Congress. It is aimed at controlling its own flock and for garnering votes by dividing the State. It does not have anything to do with protecting the interests of the people of Seemandhra region.

There are serious issues involved in the division of the State, like sharing of water, power, revenue and such other key issues. The TDP leaders insisted that what is required now is a wider committee comprising experts, before which other parties like the TDP could appear and present their views to it. “Why should the TDP leaders appear before the Congress committee to present their views?” asked Chowdhury.

Ramesh said that while the TDP was protesting in the Rajya Sabha, none of the Congress MPs was coming forward to raise their voice for Seemandhra. Even in the Lok Sabha, the Congress MPs were avoiding moving into the well of the House, he said.
