In a tragic incident, a one-and half-year old girl was washed away in the flood waters of Musi river as she accidentally slipped off the arms of her father near Nagole on Thursday. According to the LB Nagar ACP, Manavi, daughter of Meghashyam Reddy, a Non Resident Indian, who hailed from Parvathipuram locality in Uppal, came from England only a few days ago.
He reached Musi bridge on a sightseeing trip along with his ten-year-old son and 18-month-old daughter. In a bid to give his daughter a clear view of the river,, he made her to sit on the railings of the bridge. Reddy claimed that she was watching the thrill rapids of water sitting atop of the railing when she slipped off his hands. When The Hans India contacted, LB Nagar Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravi Varma said that the baby accidentally fell into the river and was feared to have drowned.
The police launched the search operation by engaging divers. The divers who covered a distance of some two kilo meters by evening drew a blank in their effort. As the flood level in the river was on the increase, they found it an uphill task to continue the operation after nightfall. The police department requisitioned a boat from the Tourism department and it was expected to arrive anytime in the night. “The boat will be used for searching the girl in the morning. We have been co-coordinating with the all the departments in order to find the baby,” stated LB Nagar Inspector P Srinivas Reddy.
A large number of passersby reached to the bridge thus adding to the congestion and it resulted in a traffic jam on Uppal - Nagole route. LB Nagar police registered a missing case following a complaint lodged her father. The searching is on.
