Hyderabad : TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu is eyeing to play a bigger role in national politics. Indicating this during a meeting he had with party leaders from Warangal district late on Wednesday night at his residence, Naidu said that the main aim of the party is to dethrone the ruling Congress party in the 2014 elections.
Blaming the UPA- II for the crisis faced by the country and the state, Naidu recalled how the country was rattled with the unbridled corruption. To prevent the Congress from coming to power, the need of the hour is to unite all anti- Congress forces in the country and lead a movement against the Congress. This is also being seen as another pointer towards Naidu’s willingness to move closer to NDA.
Sources said that, the TDP leader told the leaders from Warangal to sink their differences and take all necessary measures to see that the TDP wins majority seats both in Telangana and Seemandhra regions and emerges as a strong force in the state. He recalled the TDP’s key role in the formation of United Front, National Front and NDA governments at Centre in the past.
Naidu also decided to start his second phase of “ Atma Gaurava Yatra” ( Self Respect tour) in the first week of October. Party sources said that Naidu will take up the bus yatra from Parchur in Prakasam district on October 3 or 4. In the second phase of yatra, the TDP leader will cover Prakasam and Nellore districts. The scheduled yatra in the last week of September has been postponed to October in view of his Delhi tour.
