The 75-day old Samaikyandhra agitations raised political heat on Wednesday in Chittoor district, when the three main political parties – Congress, TDP and YSRCP – staged protests against one another here on Wednesday in various forms. The local cadres and leaders of these parties were seething with anger and vehemently protested staged by these parties developed enmity over each other. The ruckus started with construction of memorial ghat in name of Congress President Sonia Gandhi by the Telugu Desam activists on Tuesday in the city.
Angered over the development, the women activists of Congress demolished the ghat on Wednesday and flayed the main opposition party Telugu Desam for the atrocious act constructing the ghat of their beloved leader.
The PCC joint secretary Navin Kumar Reddy cremated the effigy of TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu on the road after the performing final rites at Rajiv Gandhi statue. On the other side the TDP workers burnt the effigy of YSRCP founder Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and local legislator Bhumana Karunakar Reddy at Gandhi Road Junction here to protest against depicting their leader Chandrababu Naidu as demon Mahisasura on Dasara day. On Sunday, the day of Dasara festival, the YSRCP legislator staged novel protest by enacting ‘Mahisasura Mardhini’ by killing the effigy of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu through a ‘trishul’.
The common people and government employees who were spearheading the Samaikyandhra agitation did not participated in any of these gimmicks staged by rival parties. Several people said these acts would not further the cause of Samaikyandhra in whose name all the political parties were agitating.
