Seemandhra Congress MLAs and MLCs Forum-led by Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath met Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday and submitted a memorandum urging him to prevail upon the Centre to refer both the resolution and the Bill on the division of the State to the State Assembly for its view before going ahead with the process of bifurcation.

The memorandum said that the leaders were very much upset with the way the Centre was going ahead with State bifurcation process without taking the leaders from Andhra and Rayalaseema regions into confidence. If the resolution does not come to the Assembly, it would amount to be most un-democratic and un-constitutional act and against the true spirit of Federal Constitution, it said. It further said, when three states were formed during the period of NDA the erstwhile states had given their consent in the form of resolutions.

No State in India was formed against the resolution of State Legislature. Even the statement of the then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on December 9, 2009 had said that the assembly would be asked to pass a resolution

Chidambaram also had stated that, “The process of forming the state of Telangana will be initiated. An appropriate resolution will be moved in the State Assembly.”

The Chief Minister assured the representatives of the Forum that all these points will be brought to the notice of the Government of India.
