The city witnessed heavy rain on Tuesday following the low pressured formed in Bay of Bengal. The onion load brought by the farmers to the market yard was damaged due to the downpour.
The farmers brought about 20 loads of onion to the agriculture market yard on Monday night. The two lorry loads of onion have been kept out in the open in market yard.
The downpour on Tuesday morning has drenched the onions kept on the premises.
Market yard committee chairman Venkateswar Reddy assured that the farmers who suffered loss would be compensated.
