Crop loss: Pay compensation of `10,000 for each acre, says Vijayamma

She was speaking to farmers who had suffered crop losses in Duvva.

Vijayamma warned of an agitation by the party to secure adequate compensation to farmers. She wanted the Government to waive all crops loans obtained farmers in the flood-hit areas.

Vijayamma went round Mustabad to console the bereaved members of the family of Mastan, the bread-winner, and his daughter, Parveen, who were washed away in recent floods. She also called on the members of the family of Ramu who died of electrocution during floods. She consoled his mother, who sobbed inconsolably.

The YSRCP leader went to the Nandamuru aqueduct in Tadepalligudam, where irrigation officials have issued the second flood warning, after the level touched 33 ft. “Once Y S Jaganmohan Reddy assumes power, the golden era of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy would be back in the State,” she observed and asserted that YSRCP was the only party which could solve the problems of farmers.

She called upon the government to take steps for purchase of paddy, maize and cotton by the Food Corporation of India and the Cotton Corporation for the benefit of farmers. She wanted the government to purchase even discoloured grains and maize

She told media persons later that the party would exert pressure on the Centre to re-schedule crop loans. The administration should provide immediate relief to farmers, she said.
