Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Sunday demanded the Centre to adopt a resolution on the bifurcation of State first and then forward the draft Bill in the Assembly. This was made in the wake of strong speculation that the Centre would move only Telangana draft Bill in the State Assembly for its approval before introducing the Bill in Parliament.
Addressing the press here, party senior leader Y Ramakrishnudu said that certain conventions were followed by the successive governments in the bifurcation of States. As per the constitutional provision, the Centre should seek the opinion of the State Assembly in the form of a resolution on the division of any State in the country. It was against the spirit of the Constitution if the draft Bill was moved without a resolution, he said.
