Warangal: “India was appreciated by famous scientist and mathematician Albert Einstein for innovation of the concept of zero and also the Quadratic Equation. Now world countries were looking at India as there is tremendous youth potential. Thousands of them were doing well in developed economies,” observed Justice L Narsimha Reddy, judge of the AP High Court, on Monday. He was addressing the jam-packed audience at the newly-launched auditorium by inagurating of 29th Central Zone Youth Festival, ‘Yuva Kalaratna-2013’, on the Kakatiya University campus, in Hanamkonda.
Justice Reddy said the festival coincided with the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. He advised students to take Vivekananda’s message to youth as it was relevant even today. Like the Swamiji, youth should live up to the expectations of their elders. They should make a resolve and work with discipline and achieve success.
He lauded the Kakatiya rulers for erecting the statue of Ragini, adopting a novel knowhow of floating bricks at Ramappa and the irrigation system. He advised the participants to take advantage of the hospitality provided by the historic region and host varsity, carrying back home sweet memories.
Vice-Chancellor Prof B Venkat Rathnam, who presided, said the festival was a symbol of unity in diversity, as the six participating States were showcasing their own cultures and traditions.
Mimicry legend Nerella Venu Madhav spoke in Hindi for some time to the delight of the majority participants who hailed from UP, MP, Chattisgarh, Maharashtra, Odisha, besides Andhra Pradesh. The audience had applauded his performance.
S Parameshwaran, AU observer, KU Registrar Prof K Sayulu, SBH Deputy GM Mathew Kutti, Professors G Damodar,N Ramaswamy and K Damodar Rao were present. Justice Narsimha Reddy released the souvenir. The five-day festival covering 25 events would be held at four venues on the KU campus. Participants from 20 universities have arrived so far. Some more are expected on Tuesday morning. Earlier, youth took out a ‘shobha yatra’ from Public Gardens to the venue.
