Warangal: Four persons of a family were killed in a ghastly road accident that took place in the early hours of Wednesday on the busy Warangal-Hyderabad road near Station Ghanpur in the district.
The deceased were identified as a retired executive engineer of SRSP, Kongara Bhaskar (60), and his family members Puspha (55), Hyma (23) and Gopinath (25). All of them died on the spot.
They were residents of Bheemaram village in Hanamkonda where a pall of gloom descended. It was said that they were proceeding to Kolanupaka in Aleru mandal of Nalgonda district to attend a family function.
Bhaskar was said to be driving the Indigo car. The car was hit head-on by a speeding lorry coming from Hyderabad, according to the eye witnesses.
The car was badly damaged. The police had to struggle to retrieve the bodies.
