Hyderabad: A DRDL employee and his wife were arrested for allegedly pouring toxic acid on his sister and younger brother’s wife, following a row over ancestry property at Ramsinghpura in Karwan on Saturday. The victims’ condition is stated to be out of danger.
The accused Govind Singh and Kamini Singh were detained for their role in the assault against the two women. “The prime accused Kamini picked up an argument with his sister over the row. In a fit of rage, she poured the acid used for cleaning toilets over Kanyvati Singh and Seema Singh,” Tappachabutra sub-inspector Riazuddin said.
Local residents rinsed off the acid with water and alerted the police. The injured were admitted to Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital in Mehdipatnam.
Later, they were shifted to Osmania General Hospital. Kanyavathi is sister of Govind singh, while Seema is his younger brother’s wife. Both Govind and Kanvyavati have been fighting for the property for the last few years.
Based on a complaint from the victims’ family members, a case was registered against the duo under Section 307 (Attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. Investigation is under progress.
