15 students hurt as auto overturns; 3 serious

Koheda (Karimnagar): Fifteen students of the government school at Basvapur were injured, three of them seriously, when a goods autorickshaw in which they were travelling turned turtle near Nagasamudrala stage in this mandal on Saturday.

Reckless action of the driver is believed to have caused the mishap, as the Gandimaisamma turning was considered dangerous. The injured were rushed to the government hospital at Husnabad.

Loud cries of parents and relatives of the students rent the air at the hospital. They insisted that the seriously injured be moved only after being consoled by officials. The ‘serious’ students were later shifted to MGM hospital, Warangal.

In another mishap, 27 students sustained simple injuries when a bus of Gade Rukma Reddy Memorial School in Mahabubabad fell in a ditch on Saturday. The accident occurred on the outskirts of the town, when 50 students were going travelling to the school. They were treated at a local private hospital. Following the mishap, parents of the students staged a demonstration demanding action against the school management and RTA officials.
