Hyderabad: In a move to make denizens’ life little more comfortable, especially regarding to cooking gas, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Wednesday launched sale of 5kg gas cylinders through COCO ROs (Company Owned-Company Operated Retail Outlets) in the city.
The scheme, which was launched in four cities in October 5, has now been extended to the twin cities.
Union minister of state for petroleum Panabaka Lakshmi formally inaugurated the HPCL COCO retail outlet at NSIC, Kushaiguda. Some more outlets at SP Road, Begumpet, Lalitha Fuel Point, Raidurg and Cyberabad filling station, Hi-tec City would also come up shortly. After the opening of these four outlets, a few more will be added soon, according to officials of the ministry.

There is an emerging segment of new consumers like IT professionals, students, BPO employees, who are unable to get LPG cylinders through the regular system owing to their irregular working hours. The new system benefits all those sections in a big way, according to industry officials.
This initiative allows the sale of 5kg LPG cylinders at market price with merely any Proof of Identity (POI) through company owned retail outlets (petrol stations) to attend the demand of such consumers.
The sale of 5kg cylinders will be done (Equipment +Product) at non-domestic rates with/without regulator for the first time by charging Rs 1,655 (inclusive of applicable taxes) for the cylinder and Rs 262.50 (inclusive of applicable taxes) for regulator. Subsequently, customers can refill (cost of LPG only) at Rs 510 (inclusive of applicable taxes) as per current non-domestic rates applicable in the market.
