Hyderabad: Nagar Kurnool MLA Nagam Janardhana Reddy on Friday said that it was BJP's consistent stand on Telangana that forced the UPA government to drop its Rayala Telangana plan and concede 'Sampoorna Telangana' state comprising 10 districts.

Addressing media persons at the BJP state office here, Nagam said that Congress party made every possible effort to garner support for Rayala Telangana proposal but it proved futile. He said that Finance Minister P Chidambaram himself raised this subject with BJP senior leader Sushma Swaraj on Thursday afternoon and sought the support of the saffron party.

However, she rejected the proposal, saying that the BJP was only supporting the formation of Telangana with 10 districts. “BJP's reply played a major part in the Cabinet arriving at the decision not to tinker with geography of Telangana State,” he added.
