New Delhi: Centre on Sunday expressed confidence that the Lokpal Bill will be passed in the Rajya Sabha on Monday.

Union Minister of State for Personnel V Narayanasamy, who had moved the amended Lokpal and Lokayuktas Bill-2011 in the Upper House of the Parliament on Friday, recalled that no debate was possible then due to repeated adjournments. "Chances are high that the Bill will be passed in the Rajya Sabha," Narayansamy said.

Citing the support of BJP to the Lokpal, Congress hoped that UPA's outside ally Samajwadi Party will reconsider its opposition to the anti-graft measure.

"Compliment Rahul Gandhi for coming out strongly in favour of Lokpal and Arun Jaitley also for supporting it. Hope SP would reconsider," Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said on Twitter.

The Lokpal Bill, in an amended form after consideration by the Select Committee, was brought back to the Rajya Sabha for consideration but there could not been any discussion on it due to opposition by Samajwadi Party members.

"Thank Anna for supporting Lokpal. Hope it becomes Law in this Session of Parliament," Singh further tweeted.

Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah said the Lokpal Bill would be passed in Parliament without discussion.

"Yes, the (Lokpal) bill will be passed... Without discussion," Abdullah told reporters on the sidelines of a Golf Tournament in Sidhra belt in outskirts of Jammu. "People were wanting a Lokpal for a long. If there is a controlling mechanism, it is a good thing," he said.

Asked if any amendments had been made, he said "If there is some amendment, then it will come back to Lok Sabha.”
