CPI Opposes Closure, Heera International Islamic University. Later, speaking to The Hans India, Penchalaiah decried the Hindu Organsiations demanding the closure of the institution.

Tirupati: The Heera International Islamic University coming up at Thondavada village near Chandragiri, 12 km from here is snowballing into a major controversy with many parties coming out in support of it, even as the Hindu Organisations firmly demanding the relocation of the institution away from Tirupati. A delegation of CPI activists, including party town president Penchalaiah, district committee members Venkaiah, Narasimhulu, AIYF district president Subramanyam visited the Islamic University on Sunday.

Later, speaking to The Hans India, Penchalaiah decried the Hindu Organsiations demanding the closure of the institution. He said that the Hindu organisations have no right to seek the shifting of the Islamic University as it was against the fundamental rights. ``The Constitution empowers any one can set up institutions for propagation of his or her faith as such the Hindu Organisations demands were untenable and anti-democratic.

He said that the party delegation went to inspect the institution to find out whether there is any undesirable or anti-national or illegal activities going on, as alleged by the leaders of some Hindu Organisations and added that they found only young children studying in the Arabic School and their teachers.

It may be recalled that pontiffs of various Hindu Religious Institutions and leaders, who have spearheading a campaign since a year for the closure of Heera Islamic University, on Friday reiterated their demand against the Islamic University at the Hindu Garjana.
