Hyderabad: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will have the last and a rare opportunity to try and convince party high command not to rush through the process of bifurcation when he attends the Congress Chief Ministers conference in New Delhi on December 27.

AICC president Sonia Gandhi will chair the meeting and will be attended by Congress Chief Ministers and other important party leaders. Kiran would be meeting Sonia after a long gap and hence the meeting assumes importance. It may be recalled that Kiran has not only been defying the party decision on the division, but has also been critical of Sonia as well.

The meeting gains importance as it is being held ahead of the Assembly session which would begin on January 3 to discuss the Draft T Bill. The meeting is meant to take stock of the present political situation and discuss what the party and the Congress governments need to do in the backdrop of the drubbing it received in the four states including Delhi in the recent elections. According to sources, Kiran will explain how the decision to bifurcate had not helped the party get political advantage in T region, while in Seemandhra it is nearly decimated
