  • Kiran sulking after snub from Rahul, attends a book release function
  • Sharp criticism from party leaders

Instead, the Chief Minister chose to participate in a function to release a book written by party MLA D Venkateswara Rao. This invited sharp criticism from T Congress leaders like Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao who demanded an explanation from Kiran. The T Congress leaders see this as yet another step towards his exit from the party sometime towards the end of January.

The Congress formation day celebration was attended by several senior leaders that included Ministers K Jana Reddy, Kasu Krishna Reddy, D Manikya Varaprasad, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, S Sailajanath, Danam Nagender, MPs V Hanumantha Rao, Nandi Yellaiah and M Anjan Kumar Yadav as well as PCC executive members. PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana hoisted the party flag.

All the leaders who were present at Gandhi Bhavan felt that Kiran being the leader of the Legislature party should have been present on the occasion.

It may be mentioned here that Kiran has been sulking since Friday after Rahul Gandhi told him in no uncertain terms that the decision of the CWC cannot be revoked. He did not wait to be present in the media briefing held by Rahul Gandhi while all other Congress Chief Ministers joined Rahul in the press conference.
