Hyderabad: Journalists representing various organisations took part in the ‘media run’ organised by Bright Future Foundation at PV Ghat here on Sunday.
The event, dedicated to the ‘education of poor children,’ was inaugurated by Minister for Information and Public Relations D K Aruna and was attended by DGP B Prasada Rao.
The minister blamed some officials and local teachers for the government funds spent on education for the poor not reaching the deserving children. She felt that the quality of education was being compromised due to the lack of enthusiasm shown by the teachers to work in remote areas.
However, she held that the teachers working in the government schools were better groomed than those working for corporate schools.
Emphasising on the need for educating the girl child, DGP Prasad Rao said, “If you educate a girl you educate the entire society.”
