Two advocates seek action for State’s division

Anantapur: A revised private complaint was filed in the district court here against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and six other UPA leaders, charging them with rousing regional discord, unrest and suicides by people following the State’s proposed division. The revised private complaint was filed after a magistrate court dismissed the complaint against the eight leaders. The revised complaint was numbered 662013.

Advocates and members of the Bar Council Mallikarjuna and Naganna, in the complaint, contended that the State’s division was ‘contemplated against the spirit of the Constitution’. They called for steps to stop creation of Telangana, describing it as ‘unconstitutional’.

Naganna said he wanted the UPA leaders to follow the Constitution and the law. He pleaded for registration of cases and issuance of notices to the leaders.

The advocates had also lodged a complaint against Dr Singh and Sonia besides the six UPA leaders on November 13 last year in the One Town Police Station.

They accused the leaders of conspiring to divide the State for benefiting a political party and demanded action against them under Sections 120 (B), 141, 153(A), 166, 418, 505 (2) read with 511 of IPC.
