Medak: Group rivalries in the Medak Assembly constituency surfaced once again on Saturday, with rival groups almost resorting to fisticuffs during the visit of AICC observers Maharashtra MLAs Anand Rao and Basavaraj Patil. Police intervened and dispersed members of the groups.

The AICC observers took up the process of selection of candidates for the ten Assembly and two Lok Sabha constituencies of Medak and Zaheerabad in the district during the last two days. Rao has been securing at Sangareddy views of partymen. On Friday he interacted with leaders and mandal-level activists from Zaheerabad, Andhole and Narayankhed constituencies.

On Saturday, Basavaraj Patil discussed with party activists from Medak, Dubbaka, Siddipet, Gajvel constituencies. Leaders from these segments submitted representations seeking party tickets. In Medak former legislator P Shashidhar Reddy and Suprabhat Rao are competing for the party ticket.

While they were submitting applications to AICC observer, their followers who were waiting outside raised slogans. The followers forced their way into the guest house, nearly came to blows and indulged in violence damaging furniture. Police dispersed them.

A party leader from Dubbaka constituency, B Manohar Rao, and his followers complained to the AICC observer against MLA Cheruku Mutyam Reddy, bringing to his notice the alleged anti-party comments made by Reddy on various occasions. The legislator’s son Srinivas Reddy dismissed the complaints. He sought party ticket to either his father or himself. T Narsi Reddy, Gajwel MLA sought re-nomination. Siddipet leaders Gampa Manohar Rao, Taduri Srinivas Goud, Soppadandi Chandrasekhar were among the leaders who sought tickets.
