Hyderabad: The CCS police on Saturday arrested l P Venkat Raju, 35, a resident of Pochampadu of Nizamabad district, in the Mumbai dancer gang rape case. A special team went to Mumbai and brought another accused Happy alias Nitin Yadav alias Happy Dsouza, who was arrested there. Hunt is on for others involved in the crime.

According to police, Venkat Raju admitted that he and three others received the Mumbai dancer at Shamshabad airport on December 31. She was invited by Happy to perform at a party in the city. Happy, Ajay Sharma alias Ali, Venkat Raju and Hari Krishna were already in the car. They took her to a house in Nizampet, which was rented by Raju. On their way to Nizampet, they offered a spiked soft drink and changed their cars. The four accused gang raped the drugged victim and later dumped her in a bus bound for Mumbai. The victim gained conscious only after reaching Mumbai. After knowing what happened to her she lodged a police complaint at Versova Police Station in Mumbai on January 7.

Venkat Raju has confessed to have withdrawn Rs 57,000 using the debit card of the victim from the ATM at Nizampet. The said debit card was seized from the other accused Happy who was caught in Mumbai. During the examination of the house at Nizampet, her personal artefacts and a bag were recovered. Though a medical examination was conducted on the victim, she was sent for another medical examination to trace the drug, she was given.

Two teams are in the field to nab other accused, who are absconding. Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said that the investigation was in progress.
