Nellore: Five passengers from Nellore district were killed and 20 others injured when a Volvo bus, in which they were travelling from the town to Bengaluru, overturned at Hoskote near Bengaluru on Monday morning. The mishap occurred as the driver lost control.
The victims were identified as Chinnam Prasad Naidu(30) of Vavintaparti in Podalakuru mandal; Anusha (25) of Eighth Street, Netajinagar in Nellore; Vijaykumar, Pradeep and a person travelling in the name of Manasa Kumar. There were 52 passengers in the bus belonging to Rajesh Travels. It left Nellore around 10.30 pm on Sunday and reached Tirupati by midnight, according to information given by the driver to the local RTA officials.
News of the bus mishap plunged the victims’ families into deep grief. Anusha, the wife of a software employee Srikanth, was five months pregnant. Srikanth’s condition is said to be critical. They were married seven months ago. The daughter-in-law of local telecom employee, Nageswara Rao, she had returned from her native place Maddipadu in Prakasam district. They were seated behind the driver.
Sivaprasad was the only son of Shankaraiah and Hymavathamma. He recently joined HP software company in Bengaluru. He was married six months. Details of Vijaykumar and Pradeep Kumar were not available, as their addresses were yet to be traced by the district officials.
