Lakshmi’s husband Pentaiah had gone to perform ‘Burrakatha’. They belong to the ‘Buduga Gajangam’community. His father-in-law, Narsimhulu, had come to the village along with Chandramma. She had gone to the hut to enquire about their family’s welfare and stayed back. Pentaiah and Lakshmi originally belonged to Peddapuram village in the same mandal. They shifted to Marivelli and have been living there for the last 15 years. Villagers rushed to put out the fire, but in vain. All the four were reduced to ashes, even before the Fire Services personnel could reach the spot. Medak RDO Vanajadevi collected details of the gruesome incident. She handed over Rs 4,000 as funeral expenses.
The RDO assured to provide a house site and funds for construction of a house. Sailu, the DRO, Medak DSP Godru, Jogipet CI Saida Naik, District Fire Officer Ashok, Clues Team CIs Rajender and Chittibabu visited the spot. Local Tahsildar Gaffar announced Rs 5,000 as assistance. Police investigation is on.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister C Damodar Rajanarasimha, upon learning about the incident, handed over Rs 1 lakh to the bereaved family through Sarpanch Sivacharan. He conveyed his heart-felt condolences to them.
