Hyderabad: Seemandhra political JAC on Sunday demanded that the Centre not introduce the Telangana Bill in the ensuing Parliament session commencing on February 5 in view of the State Assembly rejecting it.

Participating in a roundtable conference organised by Seemandhra Gazetted Officers Union here on Sunday, Telangana Praja Vedika convenor Mitra alleged that the Centre took unilateral decision on the State bifurcation hurting the sentiments of Seemandhra people. He warned that another round of intensified agitation would be launched by Seemandhra people if the Centre moved forward against the wishes of the people. Exhorting the Seemandhra employees to resume their agitation against the State division, Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal said the Congress MPs from Seemandhra were ready to move another no-confidence motion against the Congress-led UPA if the Centre introduced the Telangana Bill in the ensuing Parliament session.

He said Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was also planning to stage a ‘deeksha’ at former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s samadhi – ‘Shakti Stal’ against the State division. He called upon all political parties and organisations fighting for united Andhra to join the dharna and make it a grand success. TDP MP K Narayana said his party was already making concerted efforts to stall the bifurcation of State. Party president N Chandrababu Naidu would meet President Pranab Mukherjee and other national leaders and seek their intervention before the Bill was introduced in Parliament.

United Andhra Protection Forum (women’s wing) president M Ratna Kumari said that all women employees working in government departments were ready to join another round of stir. The Forum also resolved to attend the dharna organised by APNGOs in New Delhi on March 8. Seemandhra electricity employees JAC leader P Saibaba threatened indefinite strike by all electricity employees if the Telangana Bill was introduced in Parliament.
