Hyderabad: The special court for CBI cases on Tuesday turned down the plea of YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy for exempting him from personal appearance during the hearings into the alleged quid pro quo investments case against him and his companies. The CBI counsel contended that the cases against Jagan would be heard on day-to-day basis and his exemption from personal attendance would affect the trial.

Jagan’s counsel had argued that being the chief of the YSR Congress Party and Member of Parliament, he had to visit different places frequently and hence he should be considered for exemption from personal attendance.

The court observed that, “An accused in the case of an economic offence does not deserve exemption from personal appearance during the proceedings in the case.”
