SC, ST Sub-Plan Bill this session, assures Sonia
New Delhi: AICC president Sonia Gandhi has promised several leaders from various parts of the country that the SC Sub-Plan and Tribal Sub-Plan Bill-2013, on the lines of the legislations adopted by the Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka Assemblies, would be introduced during the current session of Parliament.
Among the 40 Dalit leaders who met Sonia was Mallepalli Laxmaiah, founder president of Centre for Dalit Studies. These leaders have taken up a nation-wide campaign demanding introduction of the Bill, which aims to prevent diversion of funds and spending the allotted funds for the schemes benefitting SCs and STs. During the meeting, the leaders recalled that the last year’s Jaipur AICC session had called for extension of the Bill provisions throughout the country.
Several Telangana Student JAC leaders have also called on Sonia Gandhi. Replying to their query, she said Telangana State would be carved out during the current session of Parliament.
