A book on ‘Heart Mafia’ released

Hyderabad: India Book of Records released a book on Heart Mafia authored by Dr Bishwaroop Roy Chowdary, its Chief Editor, here on Friday.

Speaking on this occasion its state convenor Rammohan Reddy said this book was released simultaneously in 14 states on Friday.The book was intended to expose medical corruption involving some cardiologists and to educate the public about natural bypass therapy, he added.

He alleged that India’s celebrity cardiologists were involved in the fishy affair. Unnecessary heart surgeries were being performed on patients by exploiting their situations for monetary benefits, he added.

“Out of the three options available for heart patients--heart bypass surgery, angioplasty and natural bypass-- only the first two options are recommended to the patients by the cardiologists for their commercial benefits and avoiding the third and healthy option of Natural Bypass,” Rammohan explained. “Performing unnecessary bypass surgeries and angioplasties just for profit making should be counted as a fraud and the doctors concerned should be punished,” he stated.

“In India every year more than 3 lakh heart patients become victims of such unwanted procedures just because of doctors’ greed for money,” he said.
