Hyderabad: New facilities such as Neuro-Oncology Centre, Cyberknife VSI and Robotic Radio Surgery system were inaugurated at Omega Hospitals by Rajya Sabha member and senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu here on Saturday.

Synergy VMAT Linear Accelerator was also launched at the hospital by LV Subramanyam, Principal Secretary Health, Medical and Family Welfare. Venkaiah Naidu praised the efforts of Dr Mohana Vamsi for installing Cyberknife, the world’s only Robotic Radio Surgery system for the first time in south India.

He expressed concern over the increasing number of cancer cases. The hospital should provide qualitative medical services to poor people with affordable cost, he said.

The BJP leader criticised both the State and Central governments for allotting meagre budgets for Health. LV Subramanyam expressed concern over high incidence of different cancers recently. He said cancer could be cured with the advent of advanced cancer technology and introduction of new treatment protocols.

Dr Mohana Vamsi, chief oncologist, Omega described Cyberknife as a revolution in cancer care.
