Petrol bunks shut down in protest

Hyderabad: Petrol pump operators have declared that the city fuel outlets would remain shut for three days starting from March 2 in protest against raids being conducted by the civil supplies department. Many petrol pumps across the city are not operational as a result.

Following complaints of adulterated fuel, the district civil supplies officials raided several petrol pumps in the city. All the petrol bunks proprietors were directed to make filter paper available on the premises to check the adulteration of fuel readily. They were also directed to maintain proper registers on stocks of petrol and diesel.

The adulteration of fuel by the petrol pump managements has compounded the pollution problem which has already reached dangerous levels. Unfortunately, no study has been carried out by any agency on this aspect.
