Hyderabad: Shankaramma, the mother of Telangana martyr Srikanta Chary threatened to commit suicide akin to her son, if she was denied TRS Party ticket to contest polls for assembly by the Chief of TRS Party, K Chandrasekhar Rao. Shankaramma, who called on KCR, the TRS chief, created a tremble at Telangana Bhavan demanding TRS ticket for the looming general elections for her.
KCR reportedly wheedled her and promised a MLC ticket or MLC nomination on priority stating the resulting elections were decisive and she would not be able to handle the same, accordingly.
Following her meeting with KCR she demanded that when so many people were given tickets, kin of one of the 1000 martyrs should also be given ticket. Further, she said that KCR promised to get back to her in three days time. If he doesn't, said Shankaramma that she would kill herself at LB Nagar X-roads.
When asked by the media why she didn’t accept the ticket offered by TDP’s Chandrababu Naidu, she said she wants to contest only on TRS ticket and not on any other party’s ticket. She said if TRS won’t consider her candidature, she would be no more like her son Srikanta Chary.
