Filing of nominations in Telangana from today

  • Scrutiny on April 10, last date for withdrawal April 12
  • Elections on April 30; polling in Agency areas from 7 am to 4 pm, other areas from 7 am to 6 pm
  • Counting of votes on May 16

Hyderabad: Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal said that the notification for 17 Lok Sabha seats and 119 Assembly seats in Telangana would be issued on Wednesday and the returning officers would receive nominations from the candidates from April 2 to 9.

Addressing media persons on Tuesday, Bhanwarlal said that scrutiny of nomination papers would be held on April 10, last date for withdrawal of nominations would be April 12 and elections would be held on April 30. The counting of votes would be held on May 16. The Commission would allow only three vehicles along with each candidate while filing his or her nominations and five persons apart from the candidates would be allowed into the election office while filing the nomination papers. Nominations would be received from 10 am to 3 pm.

Voters slips to the voters would be distributed from April 7. On polling in Agency areas, he said that polling in 11 Assembly constituencies in Agency areas in Telangana would be held from 7 am to 4 pm.

The constituencies are Sirpur, Asifabad, Khanpur, Chennur, Manthani, Achampet, Kalwakurty, Kollapur, Mulugu, Bellampally and Bhadrachalam.

Elections would be conducted from 7 am to 6 pm in the remaining constituencies in Telangana. Candidates should submit form 2A, form 26 (pledge) duly filled in to the returning officer at the time of filing the nomination.
