Justice Rohini swears in as first woman chief justice of Delhi High Court. Justice Rohini, who hails originally from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, has sworn in as the first woman chief justice of Delhi High Court, 47 years after it was established in October 1966, On Monday.

Delhi: Justice Rohini, who hails originally from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, has sworn in as the first woman chief justice of Delhi High Court, 47 years after it was established in October 1966, On Monday. Nazeeb Jung at Raj Niwas, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has administered the swearing in ceremony.

Justice Rohini will fill in the post of Justice N.V. Ramana who had vacated it in February following his elevation as a judge of the SC. Rohini was born on April 14, 1955 in Visakhapatnam, her name was recently cleared by President Pranab Mukherjee after the Supreme Court collegium headed by Chief Justice P. Sathasivam recommended her.
A science graduate from Osmania University, Justice Rohini had obtained her degree in Law from the College of Law, Andhra University. She was appointed as a government pleader in the Andhra Pradesh HC in 1995 and continued till she was elevated to the bench.
