Hyderabad: Raj Kumar, the Vice Chancellor, has visited the IIIT at Basara in Adilabad district on Friday. He examined all departments including the division of food and expressed his discontentment over the quality of food being provided to the students.

It is worth recollecting that an advocate Somaraju has approached the State Human Rights Commission against the food being provided to the IIIT students at Basara in Adilabad district. In his complaint made to the HRC, the advocate mentioned that the students have been given the curries cooked out of rotten vegetables, over a period of time.

Responding positively to the complaint made by the advocate, Miryala Rama Rao, the Judiciary member of HRC, served a notice to the Chief Secretary ordering to submit a detailed report on the very matter by June 2. More details are awaited. In this concern only Raj Kumar paid a visit to Basara IIIT.

In the recent times, it has become very common that the items being supplied to the hostels and various welfare organisations are of substandard quality. The avarice of the management involved to make money most out of the funds allocated for the items turns to be the most viable reason for such happenings. A strict action should be initiated against all the defaulters.
