Discrepancies in Staff Lists Leave Chief Secretary FumingHyderabad: As the Appointed Day is approaching, the preparations for division of employees between the two proposed States -- Telangana and residuary Andhra Pradesh -- are going on in a hurly-burly manner adding to the chaos.

Discrepancies have been noticed in the number of employees and existing posts shown in the reports submitted by Heads of Departments (HoDs). Findings revealed that the HoDs showed more employees than the existing number in 103 departments. The figures are falling short of the existing numbers in 53 departments.

The Kamalanathan Committee, which noticed the discrepancies in the reports, took up the matter with the government. Chief Secretary PK Mohanty, who addressed the HoDs here on Friday, was left fuming with the lapses. He questioned as to how wrong statistics were submitted to the committee. He directed them to take back their reports and submit fresh ones after rectifying the omissions and commissions. Mohanty warned that the government would take action against those officials who submitted wrong reports. There were 8.5 lakh employees against 12.5 lakh sanctioned cadre strength in the State. The number of the employees submitted by the HoDs and the number of those drawing salaries from the treasuries is not matching. This irked the Chief Secretary. Mohanty will be convening a three-day meeting with the HoDs from May 13 to sort out the discrepancies.
